This is our introduction to football for 3 and 4 year olds. In today's society children are prevented from the experiences that we had when we were young! Being able to play outside, climb walls, hang from trees and express themselves through mistake making fun simply does not happen for the majority of children. This form of learning has disapeared from schools and clubs but is something recognised by Stevenage Borough Football Academy. We don't expect them to know the rules, techniques and movements associated with football straight away but strongly believe that developing co-ordination, agility and balance in children as young as three years old can greatly accelerate their development now aswell as later on in life. Sessions are run as a course and run alongside the school terms. The emphasis of the session is on having fun and developing basic movement, co-ordination and social skills with a football emphasis.
Sessions currently run on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm – 2.45pm and on a Saturday morning, where we run two different levels, and Sunday mornings.
Level 1 is Munchkins who are beginners to football who have just started or have only completed a few courses. These are run at 9.30 – 10.15am and 10.30 – 11.15am on a Saturday and 10.30 - 11.15am on a Sunday. Level 2 are Nippers who are the next progression. Once the children have reached the required standard in the Munchkins they are moved up. These sessions are run at 9.30 – 10.15am on Saturday and 11:30 - 12:15 on Sunday.
NEW JUNIOR KICKERS KIT
To add a greater sense of belonging to our junior kickers, added professionalism to our academy, and a splash of colour to our sessions we now offer a Junior Kickers team kit. The kit includes a rainjacket, t shirt, shorts, socks, shinpads and waterbottle all in a drawstring bag and are now available from the reception. |

For those boys who are more dedicated and wish to pursue a career in Professional Football the Academy runs a 3 tier programme to allow them to receive technical coaching in an environment that will enhance their game.
Players carry on playing their regular football for their clubs and just come to us once a week for coaching. Matches are played during the school holidays during the day so as not to clash with School, County or club games. Entry to the Academy is via a trial system and on rare occasions by being scouted.
We currently run a School of Excellence and a Development School at every age from U7 through to U16 and a Performance Centre at ages U10, U12, U14, and U16. The standard is continuing to improve in all the groups, which are now operating at capacity, therefore raising the stakes for those already involved and for those who attend trials. |

Run in partnership between Stevenage Borough Football Club and North Herts College the EFCO programme is a two year scheme for boys aged 16 – 18 who really show a talent for football and have a good chance of being offered a Professional Contract with the club at the end of the 2 year course. Players get professional coaching while at the same time attending college to continue their education. Applications can be made to the college (01462 424242, ask for the EFCO office) with entry trials being held March/April each year.
